Hasankeyf, Batman province, Turkey, 17. August 2012. Hasankeyf is an 8000-year old village by the river Tigris in Southeastern Anatolia. It is one of mankind's earliest settlements. People here lived in sandstone caves up until the 1970s when they were forced out of the citadel overlooking the river into new houses. With the completion of the Ilisu dam, 120km downstream, the village is expected to be underwater in 2020.
